How to creat contact group

You can create contact groups to organize the people in your Office Communicator Contact List. After you create a group, you can right-click the group name in your Communicator Contact List, and then send an instant message, for example, to all members of the group.

Follow the steps to Create group

1. In the Office Communicator main window, right-click an existing group name, and then click Create New Group.
2. In the New Group text box, type a name for the group, and then press ENTER.
3. You can drag existing contacts from the Contact List into the group or use the Communicator Search feature to find contacts and add them to the group.

Excel opens without displaying a workbook

When you double-click a Microsoft Excel workbook (.xls file or .xlsx file) in Microsoft Windows Explorer, Excel does not open the file, and you may receive the following error message:

Cannot find the file 'path' (or one of its components). Make sure the path and filename are correct and that all required libraries are available.

In Window Vista, when you double-click an Excel workbook, Excel does not open the file, and you may receive the following error message:

Windows cannot find 'FilePath\FileName', Make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try again.

To resolve this problem, follow these steps:

1. In Microsoft Office Excel 2007, click the Microsoft Office Button, and then click Excel Options.
2. Click Advanced, and then click to clear the Ignore other applications check box in the General area.
3. Click OK.

1. In Microsoft Office Excel 2003 or earlier versions of Excel click Options, on the Tools menu.
2. Click the General tab.
3. Click to clear the Ignore other applications check box, and then click OK.

After you do this, you should be able to open workbooks by double-clicking them in Windows Explorer.

VB Hangs While Automating Excel Using OLE Control

In this addition i am describe Microsoft excel support to fix when excel using OLE control and VB hangs.This problem occurs while automating an Excel object that is using in-place activation in an OLE control. The problem does not occur with all methods or properties. This problem has been reported with the following method/properties in the Microsoft Excel object library:


A workaround is to not activate the object while running the automation code. However, if you need to activate the object, do so in a separate window instead of using in-place activation. For example, this line activates the object in a separate window:

OLE1.DoVerb vbOLEOpen

Another workaround is to deactivate the object before calling the automation code that causes Visual Basic to hang. For example, the PrintOut and Delete methods cause this problem to occur. Before using these methods, you can deactivate the object prior to calling the method, then optionally reactivate the object after calling the method. See the MORE INFORMATION section later in this article for an example.

Steps to Reproduce Behavior

1. Start a new Standard EXE project in Visual Basic. Form1 is created by default.
2. On the Project menu, click References, and then select the Microsoft Excel 8.0 object library. For Excel 2000, select the version 9.0 object library.
3. Place an OLE control on Form1 and create a new Microsoft Excel worksheet. The OLE control properties should be:

4. Place a CommandButton on Form1.
5. Copy the following code to the Code Window of Form1:

6. On the Run menu, click Start, or press the F5 key to start the program.
7. Click the CommandButton. Visual Basic hangs after it encounters the PrintOut method. The object will be correctly printed, but Visual Basic stops responding. You must select End Task in the task list (by pressing the CTRL+ALT+DEL keys) to end the Visual Basic project and Excel. Repeat until both Excel and the Visual Basic project are removed from the task list.
8. Repeat the steps again with the code modified as follows:

Private Sub Command1_Click()
Dim xlBook As Excel.Workbook
Set xlBook = OLE1.object
OLE1.DoVerb vbOLEShow 'or OLE1.DoVerb vbOLEUIActivate
xlBook.Worksheets("Sheet1").Range("A1").Value = "Hello"

OLE1.DoVerb vbOLEShow 'optional: reactivates object
Set xlBook = Nothing
End Sub

The problem is avoided by deactivating the object before calling the PrintOut method. Setting focus to any control on the form will deactivate the OLE control object.

Troubleshooting Font Problems When Printing in MS EXCEL

If you are using screen fonts rather than printer fonts, you may experience incorrect printer output such as garbled print, truncated text, or missing characters. These problems may also be caused by specific printer drivers or incompatibility with a third-party font application.

How to Troubleshoot

First, ensure that the incorrect font output is visible in print preview. In many cases, when you see the same incorrect output in print preview, there is some font problem.

If your worksheet looks correct in print preview, this indicates that Microsoft Excel is sending the proper output to the printer and that the printing problem is occurring sometime after Microsoft Windows takes control of the print job. In this case, follow the steps for troubleshooting printing problems in the Microsoft Windows operating environment.

If your worksheet does not look right in print preview, the problem may be caused by incorrect printer information. To work around this problem, try changing to another printer driver and then switching back to the driver that you want to use.

If you are able to preview and print other worksheets with correct output, your worksheet may be damaged. Try copying your entire worksheet to a new worksheet and then retry printing:

1. Select the entire worksheet by pressing CTRL+SHIFT+SPACEBAR.
2. From the Edit menu, choose Copy.
3. From the File menu, choose New.
4. From the Edit menu, choose Paste and try to print your document again.

Either before or after trying the specific solutions in the sections that follow, try disabling any third-party soft font applications.

NOTE: Many of the third-party applications created for the Microsoft Windows operating environment have an enable/disable switch.

In addition, ensure that you are using the printer driver version appropriate for your version of Microsoft Windows. You can check this version number by choosing the Printers icon in the Microsoft Windows Control Panel:

• In Microsoft Windows 95, click the Start button, point to Settings, then click Printers. Click the desired printer with the right (secondary) mouse button. Choose the Details tab, and check your settings.
• In Microsoft Windows version 3.1, in the Printers dialog box, choose the Setup button and then choose the About button.

• In Microsoft Windows version 3.0, choose the Configure button. Next, choose the Setup button. In the Setup dialog box, choose about. The About dialog box displays your printer driver information.
